Corona pandemic - False vaccination certificates - suspended sentence for doctor
A Berlin doctor has been sentenced to one year of probation for issuing false Corona vaccination certificates in 45 cases. The 79-year-old had documented protective vaccinations against SARS-CoV-2 in 45 cases, although she had not vaccinated the corresponding patients, the Amtsgericht Tiergarten ruled. In 15 of these cases, she admitted to engaging in the commercial issuance of incorrect health certificates. In return, she received money - at least 150 Euro per certificate was stated in the indictment.
The court ordered the seizure of 4,550 Euro. In addition, the 79-year-old was prohibited from issuing medical certificates or statements on incapacity to work for the next two years, as well as from administering vaccinations. The acts were not a trivial matter.
The defendant did not act out of greed
The defendant was charged with offenses between June 2021 and November 2022. The 79-year-old had confessed. She had administered vaccinations in her practice during the Corona pandemic, "but if someone didn't want to, then not." It must have "gotten around somehow." She had nothing to reproach herself for in her dealings with her patients. "I am an idealist."
Investigations into false vaccination certificates led to the defendant. During a search of her practice in Berlin-Grunewald, among other things, 16 already completed vaccination forms were found in a plastic bag - "they were lying there ready for pick-up," said a criminal investigator in court.
A reconciliation of all parties involved in the proceedings had taken place before the judgment. The prosecution had demanded a sentence of one year and two months probation, the defense a maximum sentence of one year probation. Her client had wanted to help and "had not acted out of greed." The judgment is not yet legally binding.
The false vaccination certificates issued by the doctor led to judicial processes. Despite the court's judgment of a suspended sentence of one year for her actions, the defendant maintains her ideals, stating she only wanted to help and did not act out of greed. The Tiergarten Local Court in Berlin ruled that the doctor's actions were not trivial, leading to a seizure of 4,550 Euro and a ban on issuing medical certificates or giving vaccinations for two years. The prosecution demanded a slightly longer probation sentence, while the defense argued for the minimum. The discovery of 16 completed vaccination forms during an investigation at her practice further supported the charges against the doctor. The verdict is yet to become legally binding, but the impact of her actions on the integrity of health certificates and vaccination records remains a significant concern for justice systems worldwide, especially with the ongoing challenges posed by the Coronavirus and its variants such as SARS-CoV-2.
