Falling trunk: man fatally injured

A 31-year-old man was so seriously injured during forest work in Upper Bavaria that he later died in hospital. As the police reported on Saturday, a tree trunk fell on the 31-year-old and trapped him underneath.

Accidents - Falling trunk: man fatally injured

A 31-year-old man was so seriously injured during forest work in Upper Bavaria that he later died in hospital. According to the police on Saturday, a tree trunk fell on the 31-year-old and trapped him underneath.

The man and two other workers had been removing damaged trees in a wooded area in Emmering (Fürstenfeldbruck district) on Friday. When he used a chainsaw to cut down a tree that was leaning on a slope, the upper part of the tree reportedly split. Firefighters rescued the seriously injured man and a rescue helicopter flew him to hospital. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
