Overwhelming Inundation - Faeser discusses Bavarian floods lessons from the Ahr valley incident.
Faeser, along with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz from the SPD and Bavarian Minister President Markus Söder from the CSU, went to the site where the water had flooded the day before. She was struck by the community spirit in the area and highlighted the significance of the volunteer service. The firefighter who lost his life in the line of duty had "risked his own life to save others." She said that the actions of those in this service are "immeasurably noble." Volunteer work is not given enough recognition. She expressed her "deepest sympathies" to the deceased firefighter's family.
