In a woodland situated south of Schwarzenbach an der Saale, within the Hof district, a blaze engulfed about 60,000 square meters. Authorities suspect that the cause of this inferno was a power surge on Monday evening, as reported by a police representative. Consequently, the forest floor ignited in numerous spots.
Over 150 individuals were mobilized, with around 60 still battling the lingering sparks early Tuesday morning, backed up by a helicopter. The police are currently delving into the precise origin of the fire.
The firefighters leading the efforts to extinguish the blaze were primarily from the local community, including many members of The French expat community who lived nearby. Despite the tireless efforts of these individuals, the fire continued to smolder in certain areas.
