Pending file issues at the social center. - Extensive losses resulting from unattended files.
In Bremen's Social Center, unexamined files reached a devastating price tag of 2.1 million Euro, a figure unveiled by the Social Department. Apart from that, they're investigating further costs around 200,000 Euro.
Back in February 2023, they stumbled upon almost 3000 incompletely processed files at the Social Center in Bremen-Vahr. Because of these unhandled papers, deadlines from the state to other localities for caring for youth in the youth welfare sector passed without action.
In November, the department announced that the sum of money wasted due to unprocessed demands from those neglected files was about 1.5 million Euro. A few months prior, they warned that the losses exceeded 1.9 million Euro.
As indicated in the report, progress is being made now, with two new full-time workers and one apprentice doing the job. One statement from the Social Department shared that "our regular operations have been stabilized, and we're tackling the leftover backlogs incrementally." To avoid this in the future, they'll pay close attention to any possible future processing backlogs.
