The Rhineland-Palatinate government has prolonged the law for flood-resilient rebuilding in the Ahr Valley. In regions where flood defenses are necessary, adjustments to the Building Code are permitted, announced the Finance Ministry on Tuesday. The extension lasts for one year initially.

The adaptations ease the rebuilding process in line with flood protection measures, they said. The Ministry mentioned that municipalities in the associations Adenau and Altenahr, as well as the cities of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and Sinzig, are deemed reconstruction areas.
