- Explosion at the Nürburgring <unk> Saturday race will take place
Following an explosion with multiple injuries at the Nürburgring, the six-hour ADAC Ruhr-Pokal race scheduled for Saturday will proceed as planned, organizers told Deutsche Presse-Agentur. Several people were injured Friday evening during a test drive when an explosion occurred in the area of the pit lane behind the garages. Organizers have given teams and drivers the option to participate in the race.
According to official statements from the organizer, the incident occurred at pit box 27 in the paddock, which was also cordoned off by police along with the surrounding area. Upon request from dpa, the police in Koblenz, who are in charge of the investigation, stated that the investigation is not yet complete and will continue on Saturday morning.
Despite the incident at pit box 27 at The Nürburgring, causing disruption during a test drive, the planned six-hour ADAC Ruhr-Pokal race will still take place the next day. Many are keen to participate in the race at The Nürburgring, as organizers have allowed teams and drivers to join despite the previous incident.
