Following an explosion in the paddock at the Nürburgring, the number of injured has risen to 29. Seven more minor injuries have been reported, a police spokesperson said. The person who was severely injured is in a stable condition.

Initial findings suggest that on Friday evening, during test runs for the Six Hours race, a compressed air cylinder exploded between two garages in the paddock. This resulted in three people being severely injured and one critically. The remaining minor injuries included concussions and shock.

The investigation of the scene was completed on Sunday, the police spokesperson said. Investigations into the background and cause are ongoing. An expert has also been commissioned by the public prosecutor's office for this purpose.

After the completion of the investigation, authorities declared an emergency evacuation of the nearby spectator areas due to potential hazardous debris. The race organizer announced that the Six Hours race will be postponed until further notice due to the emergency situation.
