The Klassik Stiftung Weimar is unveiling, for the first time in a unique exhibit, artworks such as paintings, sketches, and prints by Caspar David Friedrich from its collection. The special exhibition titled "Caspar David Friedrich, Goethe, and Romanticism in Weimar" at the Schillermuseum, set to open on November 22, will also emphasize Weimar's role as a center for romantic art and literature, as declared by the foundation. The intricate connection between Friedrich and Weimar's esteemed poet laureate Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832) is also predicted to draw a large crowd.
The exhibit will also showcase creations by other artists involved in the Romantic era, including Caroline Bardua (1781-1864), who painted both Goethe and Friedrich's portraits, and early Romantic Philippe Otto Runge (1777 - 1810).
