Knife attack - Expert witness describes injuries in Brokstedt trial
A medical expert has reported on the injuries of one of the surviving victims in the trial surrounding the fatal knife attack on a regional train near Brokstedt. On Tuesday, the doctor from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the UKE Hamburg reported nine to ten cuts and stab wounds on a 22-year-old man who was ultimately able to knock the knife out of the perpetrator's hand. Some were superficial, others were deeper. In addition, the nose had been injured by a bite from the attacker, the doctor told the Itzehoe District Court.
The accused is Palestinian Ibrahim A. The public prosecutor's office accuses him of attacking passengers with a knife on a train from Kiel to Hamburg near Brokstedt on January 25, 2023. Two young people died, a 17-year-old woman and her boyfriend, who was two years older. Four other people - two women and two men - suffered serious injuries. The trial is currently scheduled to continue into the spring.
