Literature - Expert: Never before more books on climate change
According to one expert, the fact that climate change is a topic of the day is also reflected in the publications of book publishers. "Basically, never before have more books been published on the subject of climate change - and I see that as a positive thing in terms of spreading the importance of the topic and relevant knowledge," explained Martin Kugler. The graduate engineer is a member of the jury for the "Science Book of the Year", which is awarded under the auspices of the Austrian Ministry of Science.
"In my perception, there have been two trends recently," explained Kugler: "Firstly, there are more and more 'dozens of books'." In these books, long-known facts are endlessly repeated and at best updated. "Some of these books are alarmist, and some authors are obviously also pursuing a political agenda." On the other hand, more and more books are now appearing in which climate events are embedded in larger contexts - primarily historical, but also social ones.
