Even with the Sheep's Coat: Remarkably, the sweltering heat and intense sunshine have painted a blazing summer picture in Saxony-Anhalt. Preliminary data from the German Weather Service (DWD) reveals an average temperature of 18.9°C over the past trio of months, marking a two-degree ascend from the traditional norm of the 1961-1990 reference period. August 29 saw northern regions breaking records with temperatures surpassing the scorching 35°C mark. A stunning 740 hours of shining sun were basked upon us.

Least Drizzle in Any Federal Domain: Ironically, contrary to June and July's downpour, August in Saxony-Anhalt was characterized by a scarcity of rainfall. The overall rainfall for the past three months is reported to be a mere 177 liters per square meter – a minuscule increment above the usual average of 174 liters.

Torrid Summer in Deutschland: Not just in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany as a whole experienced a summer tempestuously warmer than the norm. The consensus temperature flirted with 18.5°C, a striking 2.2°C rise versus the precedent set by the internationally acknowledged reference period. The southern and eastern areas endured the most potent summer heatwaves.

Concurrently, the aforementioned three months were marked by an eccentric pattern of changes: The summer commenced with a surprising chill and eventually morphed into a steamy affair at its latter stages. Local instances of extreme rainfall events also reared their ugly heads.

Despite the extreme heat, the German Weather Service (DWD) advised residents to stay vigilant due to the occasional heavy rain showers, known as DWD alerts. The intense sunshine throughout Saxony-Anhalt contributed to a significant increase in evapotranspiration, further amplifying the DWD-predicted heatwave effects.
