Current Climate Conditions and Road Situation - Experienced Traffic Mishaps Under Stormy and Rainy Conditions

Torrential downpour and tempest threw drivers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's northern region into turmoil around midday. On the A14, a driver close to Wismar lost command over their vehicle during a risky overtaking maneuver due to aquaplaning, subsequently veering up a six-meter elevated slope, as per police reports.

The car then somersaulted back down and came to rest, blocking the flow of traffic in the opposite direction on the emergency lane. The 50-year-old driver sustained minor injuries, with the police estimating total damages around 40,000 euros. The motorway had to be momentarily shut down on one lane.

Gale sends van off its course

A gusty wind caused a minor van to depart from the main road between Werle and Schwaan in the district of Rostock. "The tiny van subsequently tumbled over and collided with an electric power pole," officials stated.

The 26-year-old driver of the small van endured injuries and was transported to the hospital, according to the police. The electric power pole experienced extensive damage as a result. The police estimated the total damages to exceed 45,000 euros.

The gale-forced wind pushed the van off its intended route, causing it to veer off the main road. The damaged van eventually came to rest after colliding with a power pole.

Despite the car incident on the A14, heavy traffic continued to be a problem on the day due to adverse weather conditions.
