The Hamburg airport hostage situation trial is wrapping up. Next Friday (9:30 am), the criminal court at the district court will conclude the evidence-gathering process. Then, the prosecutor, the lawyer for the plaintiff, and the defense attorney for the 35-year-old suspect will deliver their closing statements. The defendant will then have a chance to make their final remarks. The verdict is expected to be issued on June 25th, as stated by the presiding judge.

According to the prosecution, the man, who is of Turkish descent, abducted his four-year-old daughter from his ex-wife's home in the Lower Saxony town of Stade on November 4th. Afterward, he drove to the airport and managed to bypass three barriers near the terminals before reaching the airport's perimeter. There, he threw two Molotov cocktails from his car, shot three rounds into the air, and vowed to blow himself up along with his daughter. The incident ended after 18 hours, and it was found that the supposed explosive belt he wore was a fake. The suspect has admitted to most of his actions.
