The killing of women. - Expected verdict against former boyfriend in 21-year-old's death.
A decision is anticipated at the Hanover Regional Court on Tuesday (10:00 am) in the trial of a 21-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend. This young man is facing charges of manslaughter. He allegedly inflicted numerous stab wounds upon his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend in the neck and chest in late November.
The victim, panicked by the attack, attempted to escape her apartment and fled onto the street. However, she lost so much blood that she later succumbed to her injuries. Post-crime, the defendant tried to take his own life as well.
The prosecution asked for a 12.5-year prison sentence for manslaughter during their closing argument. The defense, on the other hand, requested a conviction of severe bodily injury that led to death and urged for a three-year sentence.
Upon the occurrence of this violent incident, hundreds of people marched in Hanover against female murders, known as femicides. The term 'femicide' encompasses the murder of women due to their gender, which essentially means they were killed simply because they are women. With this form of homicide, the majority of victims are murdered by their partners or former partners.
