Meteorological Conditions: A Summary of the Climate - Expect heavy downpours and thunderstorms over the weekend.

The upcoming weekend in Germany might not be as summery as expected with rain, thunderstorms and temperatures hovering around 20°C in many regions. The south is at a higher risk of seeing heavy rain, according to meteorologist Tanja Egerer from the German Weather Service in Offenbach. She notes, however, that there are still some uncertainties about the exact weather conditions.

"Strong thunderstorms and heavy showers might occur as early as the weekend south of the Danube. However, these are local weather events," Egerer adds. By Sunday and Monday, there may be more widespread rain, but she cautions that this won't be as intense as the rainfall witnessed a few weeks ago.

The coming Friday will resemble Thursday in terms of weather: the north will see showers with temperatures between 15°C and 20°C, while the south might also witness rain. For the in-between areas, both rainy and sunny skies are predicted. Temperatures will range from 20°C to 24°C in these places, while in the south, it will feel summery with temperatures reaching 24°C to 26°C.

Saturday's forecast by the DWD calls for a mix of clouds and showers in the north and south of the Main, as well as strong thunderstorms with heavy rain and local weather events in the south. The in-between regions will experience sunny to cloudy skies and remain dry. In the northwest, temperatures are expected to reach 16°C to 20°C, while elsewhere, they will be between 20°C to 26°C.

On Sunday, the DWD predicts cloudy or heavily cloudy weather with showers and thunderstorms, including heavy rain and local weather events, occurring south of the Main. In contrast, the north is expected to be cooler with temperatures between 15°C and 20°C. Elsewhere, expect temperatures between 20°C and 25°C.
