- Expanding the technological hub in Schwerin/Wismar is underway.
The Tech and Business Hub Schwerin offers a platform for nascent ventures to bring their business concepts to life and provides operational assistance for their launch. The facility situated in the southern part of the state capital's heart offers optimal conditions for innovative startups, as asserted by Minister President Manuela Schwesig (SPD) during the inauguration of another building. Entrepreneurs can expect prime conditions for both productive and creative endeavors here.
As per the Economic Ministry's figures, approximately 4,000 square meters of space is available for lease in the newly constructed Building 7, with half of it allocated for production use. Furthermore, there are flexible office and lab spaces that can be customized according to specific business needs and growth. The total funding for this project is estimated to be around 23 million euros, with the state providing approximately 17 million euros from its "Improving Regional Economic Structure" Fund.
Established in 1990, the Tech and Business Hub (TBH) now has outposts in Schwerin, Wismar, and Malchow. According to available data, over 100 companies are currently housed there, including Airsense Analytics GmbH, a prominent manufacturer of chemical-analytical measurement devices utilized in the detection of dangerous gases and explosives.
Schwesig highlighted that bolstering the state's economic might is the main objective of her administration. In the first half of the legislative term, 166 new settlements and business expansions were backed with 79 million euros, sparking 420 million euros in investments. The pursuit of innovation, also in the nine tech hubs scattered across the state, assists companies in developing new products and implementing new production methods. However, the opposition contends that Mecklenburg-Vorpommern falls behind on the economic strength ranking compared to other states and has yet to secure significant investments.
The newly constructed Building 7 within the Tech and Business Hub offers businesses a substantial 4,000 square meters of heavy production space. Despite the opposition's concerns, Minister President Schwesig remains committed to fostering innovation, aiming to bridge the gap in economic strength by attracting heavier industries and investments to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
