- Expanding affordability in car insurance for numerous individuals.
Taking a fresh look at accident risks, around 59,000 drivers in Sankt Wendel can anticipate more lenient liability policies in motor vehicle insurance. These findings were derived by the German Insurers Association (GDV). In the upcoming phase, Sankt Wendel will fall under regional class four, which signifies an improvement.
As for the other seven registration districts in Saarland, the liability insurance regional classes remain unchanged. The highest accident risks are for drivers in Saarbrücken and Volklingen, where regional class nine applies. The regional classes play a significant role in determining insurance premiums, with residence being the decisive factor, not the registration office.
On a national scale, Offenbach experiences the most damage
At a national level, Offenbach tops the list as the most damage-prone area, with Berlin following closely behind. Accidents occur more frequently in these cities, and damages exceed the average by nearly 40%. Due to these high incidences, cars in Offenbach must be insured under the highest regional class twelve.
Mandatory liability insurance covers damages caused by a car owner using their vehicle that leads to harm to others. Damages to one's own car are not included in this coverage. To ensure coverage for personal vehicle damages, one needs to pursue comprehensive insurance, with options for partial or full coverage.
In the Saarland, the regional class for both partial and comprehensive insurance increases for drivers in Neunkirchen. For the first time, own regional classes have been established for Sankt Ingbert, with the class improving to level four for partial coverage. Sankt Wendel (10 out of 16) falls under the top and thus costly regional class.
Impact of new classifications unclear
In comprehensive insurance, broken down into nine regional classes, four districts in Saarland perform exceptionally well: Saarlouis, Saar-Pfalz district, Sankt Ingbert, and Volklingen will all be in class four moving forward. The highest regional class in the state, class six, is in Merzig/Wadern and Saarbrücken.
The precise impacts of the new classifications on insurance premiums have yet to be determined, as they are also influenced by multiple other factors. These regional statistics by GDV do not hold binding power for insurance companies. They may be applied straightaway for new contracts and for existing contracts from the following insurance year.
In the revised insurance policies, GVV drivers in Sankt Wendel can expect less stringent liability terms due to their improved regional class. Despite the improvements in Sankt Wendel, the highest accident risks continue to be in Saarbrücken and Volklingen, classified as regional class nine.
