The national team... - Exciting summer fairy tale anticipation: European Championship begins with Scotland match

The European Championship commences with Germany facing Scotland in their opening match on Friday, hosted in Munich. With kick-off set for 21:00 hours, the tournament commences. The German team, led by Julian Nagelsmann, is under enormous pressure following unsatisfactory performances at the 2018, 2021, and 2022 World and European Cups. Desiring their fourth EM victory, the German team seeks to impress their home supporters.

Nagelsmann, at just 36 years old, will manage Germany as the youngest leader at a major tournament. In his newest formation, he prioritizes role clarity and renewed tournament prospects. In goal, despite some recent backlash, Manuel Neuer, the 8th installment as Germany's starting goalkeeper, will play. Germany's captain, Ilkay Gündogan, will lead the team in his first European Championship experience. Other opponents in Group A are Hungary and Switzerland.

Taking place between June 10 and July 14, the tournament consists of 51 matches, culminating in the final at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. This football event is the first significant event in the country since the memorable World Cup story of 2006 and the Women's World Cup in 2011. Germany has clinched three European Championships: 1972, 1980, and most recently through Oliver Bierhoff's Golden Goal against the Czech Republic at Wembley in 1996.
