Excavator damages gas pipeline in Leipzig

An excavator damaged a main gas pipeline in Leipzig on Friday. According to the police and fire department, gas escaped from the leak. The incident took place on Prager Straße. The busy road was closed. Drivers were advised to drive well clear of the area. An adjacent student hall of residence was evacuated for safety reasons. It should take several hours to close the leak.
