- Ex-wife injured and driven off in trunk - U-Haul
A man from Lower Franconia is now in custody on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly striking his ex-wife unconscious with a hammer and driving off with her in the trunk of a car. The 49-year-old is suspected of committing the crime during a physical altercation in Bergrheinfeld near Würzburg. It remains unclear why the man placed the heavily bleeding and severely injured 51-year-old in the trunk of his car and drove off on Wednesday. An alert witness called the police and followed the car. Officers reportedly stopped the suspect within minutes in Schweinfurt and rescued the woman. The suspect was then arrested. Investigations are ongoing.
The authorities are looking into other potential motives, including any history of domestic disputes, in the case of the man from Lower Franconia. The police are also questioning if the suspect had any intentions to harm the victim beyond the attempted murder.
