Soccer - Ex-Frankfurt coach on next job: vision is important
Eintracht Frankfurt former coach Oliver Glasner has also used his time away from soccer to further his education in other sports. "When you've been in soccer for 30 years, you probably become a bit blind to the business. You think you've seen it all. Then I thought I'd use the time to see how things work in a completely different sport with completely different requirements. There were some very interesting impressions," said the Austrian about his visits to the North American professional basketball league NBA on Monday on "Sport und Talk im Hangar 7" on ServusTV.
Glasner had led Eintracht to win the Europa League in 2022. Since his departure in the summer of 2023, the coach has been without a club. Money is not the biggest motivation for the next job. "For me, it's important to be able to shape and develop something with a team, with the club, with the players, to pursue a vision together and then achieve it," said Glasner.
He has deliberately taken a step back in recent months. "If you feel like you're laughing into a camera or grinning or crying out of a newspaper every day, then it's simply good to withdraw from the public eye," said Glasner.
