Private information - Ex-Environment Minister Siegesmund Now Leads the Association
Previously the Thuringian Environment Minister Anja Siegesmund holds the position as the head of the Federal Association of German Waste, Water and Circular Economy (BDE) now. Siegesmund, aged 47, officially took up the post as the managing president of the organization with offices in Berlin and Brussels on Monday. She was elected in May 2023, but due to the timetable set by the red-red-green state government, she had to wait for an extent of 16 months after her term as a minister in Thuringia was over.
Siegesmund was in charge of handling environmental, energy and nature preservation issues as a minister, including waste and waste management matters. The state government emphasized that the Green-nominated minister has had professional interactions with the BDE since 2014, though there were no direct or personal interactions. The association specifically highlighted that only professional dealings were made between the two.
