Ex-Augsburg resident Maaßen now leads St. Gallen as head coach.

A former player of Augsburg football club, Enrico Maaßen, has moved to a new league - the Super League.

Former Bundеsliga coach Enrico Maaßen will join FC St. Gallen in the Swiss Super League as their new coach, following the club's announcement on Saturday. Maaßen, who was last seen at FC Augsburg, is set to take over from Peter Zeidler, who made the switch to VfL Bochum. The 40-year-old has signed a contract with St. Gallen that will run until June 30, 2027. His stint at Augsburg came to an end in October 2023 after a year and a half.

"I'm thrilled about the trust from those in charge and can't wait to take on the new challenges with FC St. Gallen 1879," shared the incoming head coach. "I've already experienced the club's energy and stability, and I'm confident in the potential of the team as well as the entire organization."
