- Event persists despite fire warning at Elphi's venue
Exciting news for concert-goers at Elbphilharmonie this week: Following the unexpected interruption of the concert last Sunday due to a fire warning, all upcoming events will now go on as planned, as confirmed by a representative from Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. "There won't be any interruptions."
The music performance by British soul artist Sampha was suddenly halted due to the fire warning. He was entertaining around 2,100 attendees as part of the International Summer Festival Kampnagel in the Grand Hall.
The representative from "Elphi" attributed the incident to a high-temperature sensor activating the sprinkler system beneath the stage. "The main hall wasn't harmed, so the attendees were never in danger."
Incident beneath the stage
The fire department speculated that a fire in an under-stage cable could have caused the fire warning and the sprinkler system to activate on Sunday night. Upon reaching the scene, firefighters noticed no sign of active flames. However, due to the sprinkler water reaching the technical area under the stage, the concert eventually had to be called off.
Initially, details about the extent of the damage were uncertain. A Kampnagel representative promised that the festival, in conjunction with Elbphilharmonie, would reach out to ticket holders promptly with further updates.
Despite the unexpected interruption due to the fire warning, theMusic performance by Sampha is set to continue as part of the rescheduled events at Elbphilharmonie. The Grand Hall, though affected by the sprinkler activation, remains intact and suitable for future concerts.
