Voting events - European Minister Expresses Concern Over Winning Streak of Conservative Parties
German European Minister Manfred Pentz (CDU) expressed worry about the increasing support for right-wing parties in the EU following the recent European elections. In an interview with Hit Radio FFH on Monday, he said, "It's unfortunate that right-wing parties in Europe, particularly in certain countries, have experienced an improvement in their outcomes."
Pentz further explained, "We need to understand why people chose these right-wing parties in the first place. My guess is it's because they yearn for a more coherent and effective policy on migration in the EU."
He emphasized that anti-EU parties should always be a matter of concern, as a united Europe is crucial for maintaining peace, safety, and freedom across the continent. If Germany were to exit the European Union like Britain, it would hinder the country's global influence significantly.
The European elections held on Sunday witnessed notable gains for right-wing parties in countries such as France, Italy, and Austria. In Germany, the AfD emerged as the second strongest political force, just behind the CDU, according to the preliminary official results.

Pentz's concerns extend beyond Germany, as right-wing parties in Europe, such as those in Hesse, have also experienced electoral success. The European Union and its policies, including migration, have become significant issues in the EU elections. Germany, like many European countries, has seen a rise in support for parties like the AfD, which advocates for leaving the EU. The impact of this shift on European unity and Germany's global influence is a topic of concern. Radio Hit FFH, a popular station in Germany, has featured discussions on these election results.
