European Film Awards: Sandra Hüller nominated

German actress Sandra Hüller has been nominated twice for Best Actress at the European Film Awards. The 45-year-old has been nominated for her roles in "Anatomy of a Case" and "The Zone of Interest", as announced by the European Film Academy on Tuesday. Her competitors include Leonie Benesch from the German drama "Das Lehrerzimmer" and the Finnish actress Alma Pöysti ("Falling Leaves").

In "Anatomy of a Case", Hüller plays an extremely self-determined woman under suspicion of murder. The drama was awarded the Palme d'Or for Best Film in Cannes. "The Zone of Interest", on the other hand, is about the life of concentration camp commander Rudolf Höß (Christian Friedel) and his family. Hüller plays Höß' wife Hedwig.

Both films are also nominated for Best European Film. They are joined in the race by three other titles: the tragicomedy "Falling Leaves" by Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, "Green Border" about refugees on the Polish-Belarusian border and the drama "Me Captain" by Italian director Matteo Garrone.

The European Film Awards are to be presented in Berlin on December 9. It is one of the most prestigious awards in the industry. In 2022, the satire "Triangle of Sadness" was named best European film.

Sandra Hüller's nomination for Best Actress at the European Film Awards is not just for one film, as she's also recognized for her role in "The Zone of Interest". The European Film Awards ceremony, renowned in the industry, will honor the best European films on December 9, with Hüller's films, "Anatomy of a Case" and "The Zone of Interest", competing for the Best European Film award.
