European elections: Hahn again top candidate of the Hamburg FDP
The Hamburg FDP is once again backing MEP Svenja Hahn in next year's European elections. The party unanimously elected Hahn to first place on the state list in the Hanseatic city on Saturday, as a party spokesperson reported on Sunday. Hahn was the only woman from Hamburg to enter the European Parliament for an established party in the 2019 European elections and the first Liberal ever to represent her city there. The FDP plans to draw up its federal list in January.
"I am very keen to continue my work on free trade and artificial intelligence in Brussels and Strasbourg," said Hahn. The EU could become an innovation hotspot for artificial intelligence and digitalization. "Above all, we must expand our single market and the alliance of democracies through more trade with the world so that the European economy can continue to guarantee prosperity in the future."
The Hamburg FDP's decision to nominate MEP Svenja Hahn as their top candidate for the upcoming European elections signifies the parties' confidence in her abilities. In the 2019 European elections, Hahn became the first Liberal woman from Hamburg to represent her city in the European Parliament for an established party, demonstrating the FDP's commitment to gender diversity within its ranks.
