European Championships preparations underway at central station

Increased service, enhanced cleanliness, and extra technicians: Hamburg Central Station welcomes 100 additional employees during the European Football Championships. The mascot Albärt also makes frequent appearances.

The Hamburg main train station is gearing up for the European Championship. During the event, an extra 100 personnel will be deployed: 30 individuals will assist fans and visitors with navigating within and surrounding the station. Additionally, there will be 40 cleaning crew and 30 technicians.

"Hamburg hosts numerous events, and we have the know-how to ensure guests enjoy their stay," stated Markus Hock on Wednesday. He is the deputy station manager of Deutsche Bahn (DB) in Hamburg, serving as the EM program manager for all major stations in the nation.

For selfie enthusiasts: Giant EM trophy in the waiting area

From June 14th to 25th, a life-size EM trophy, reaching over 3 meters in height, will be exhibited in the waiting area. Albaert, the mascot, will be present in the waiting area on the days preceding Hamburg's matches on June 16th, 19th, 22nd, and 26th, in addition to July 5th. Dance performances by the HipHop Academy will also be featured.

Nationally, throughout the EM, around the clock, roughly 6,000 federal police officers and about 5,400 DB security staff will be on the job at stations and trains, ensuring the safety of passengers and employees.

Needless to say, safety is a top priority during the European Championship, with around 11,400 combined federal police officers and DB security staff working around the clock at stations and trains across Germany to ensure the well-being of passengers and employees.
