Unidentified drone causes damage to Eurofighter in approach zone - police seek witnesses
Police have launched an investigation after a collision between a Eurofighter and a drone that breached airspace regulations in the approach zone to an airport.
The incident is believed to have happened on the Wednesday prior, approximately 300 meters east of the runway near the community of Ernsgaden in the Upper Bavarian district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm. The unauthorized drone operator is being sought by the police, who are also looking for witnesses to come forward.
The police stated that unauthorized drones can be particularly dangerous for air traffic and are only permitted to fly in close proximity to airports with the permission of the airport operator. The extent of damage to the Eurofighter is as yet unknown.
A Eurofighter's flight capabilities were not impacted as a result of the collision.
