Eurocup: Hamburg Towers also lose to Besiktas
Veolia Towers Hamburg still have to wait for their first win in the Eurocup this season. The German basketball club lost 78:90 (44:48) at Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul on Wednesday, its sixth defeat in six games. As a result, Hamburg slipped to tenth and last place in the A group. Aleksander Dziewa was the Hanseatic side's best scorer with 21 points.
The Towers were very focused from the outset and even took the lead several times in the first quarter. The second ten minutes were similar. It was only shortly before the break that the home side managed to pull away and take a narrow lead into the break.
Besiktas briefly stretched that lead to seven points in the third period, but the Towers were even ahead again after a three by Lukas Meisner to make it 63:62. Hamburg lacked accuracy in the final period and so was clearly beaten in the end.
Despite the valiant effort from Veolia Towers Hamburg, they suffered another loss in the Eurocup, this time against Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul. In search of their first victory in the competition, the Basketball team will have to regroup and aim for victory at the Veolia Towers Hamburg in an upcoming match.
