A building fire in Gerlingen (district of Ludwigsburg) has caused an estimated damage of at least 500,000 euros. The fire broke out on Monday for initially unknown reasons in a residential and commercial building, as police reported. Officers evacuated two residents, but most left the affected areas on their own.

One of three building sections was initially uninhabitable. The city accommodated the affected residents. The adjacent street was closed for approximately three hours, according to a police spokesperson.

The intensifying fire spread to nearby sections of the building, threatening more structures. Firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the flame and prevent further damage.
