Each year, The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics provides approximately 38.6 million euros to support scientific organizations aiding in research and development for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). Economy Minister Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut stated in Stuttgart on Wednesday that the success of several companies hinges heavily on this type of investment.

Through targeted funding of the institutes in the Innovation Alliance Baden-Württemberg, the state is ensuring the Southwest region will continue to lead in critical technological fields. This alliance encompasses ten non-university research institutes and twelve exclusively state-financed institutes.

These institutes serve as the connection between academic research and practical implementation. This is key, especially for SMEs that generally struggle to provide their own research and development facilities. "Innovations are crucial to future wealth creation," Hoffmeister-Kraut declared.

These organizations are involved in various areas, including digitalization, artificial intelligence, sustainable transportation, quantum technology, and environmental and energy research. With approximately 2,000 employees, they tend to 5,500 projects annually.
