In the recent European election in Hamburg, the Green party secured the highest number of votes, as per initial counting. However, they faced a decline of 8.9% compared to the previous election, placing them at 22.2% of the total votes. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) took the second spot with 19.1% of the votes. The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) recorded minor gains, standing at 18.2%. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) witnessed an increase of 1.1% in their share to 7.6%. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) managed 7.0% and the Left party claimed 5.1% of the votes. The remaining parties jointly accounted for 20.8% of the total votes. This includes the Left-wing electoral alliance headed by Sahra Wagenknecht, which didn't receive individual mention in the Statistical Office's preliminary count.
