ERC Ingolstadt signs forward Kozun

ERC Ingolstadt has responded to the months-long absence of forward Casey Bailey by signing Brandon Kozun. As the runners-up in the German Ice Hockey League announced on Wednesday, the 33-year-old forward has signed a contract until the end of the season. Kozun, who has both a US and Canadian passport, was most recently active in the training camp of the NHL team Colorado Avalanche. He spent last season in the multinational KHL as captain of Dinamo Minsk.

"Brandon's great qualities are not only shown by his resume, but also by the fact that until a few weeks ago he was still fighting for a spot on the Colorado Avalanche's NHL squad," said ERC sports director Tim Regan about Kozun, who recorded 290 scoring points in 399 KHL games. "He has always played an important role on his teams and brings leadership qualities." Kozun won the bronze medal at the 2018 Olympic Games with the Canadian national team.

Striker Bailey, on the other hand, will miss the ERC for at least four months. The 32-year-old American suffered an upper-body injury in the away game at Schwenninger Wild Wings at the end of October and had to undergo surgery.

ERC Ingolstadt's new signing, Brandon Kozun, has experience playing in the prestigious KHL, where he served as captain of Dinamo Minsk. In the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), Kozun will be joining forces with former teammates, as ERC Ingolstadt has a history of recruiting top talent.
