Environment Minister Hinz presents forest status report 2023
Hesse's Environment Minister Priska Hinz (Greens) is presenting the Forest Condition Report 2023 near Niedernhausen in the Taunus region today. Among other things, the study aims to shed light on which tree species are currently suffering the most from the consequences of the climate crisis. The representative survey is compiled annually by the Northwest German Forest Research Institute. For several years, the reports have documented the poor state of health of the forests. The trees are suffering from drought, beetle and fungal infestation, among other things.
The climate crisis is significantly impacting various tree species, as revealed in the Forest Condition Report 2023 presented by Environment Minister Hinz. The health of forests, affected by drought, beetle and fungal infestations, has been a concerning trend documented in these annual reports for several years.
