Bavaria's Environment Minister, Thorsten Glauber, sustained severe injuries after falling during a cycling tour. The Free Voter politician fell during the sixth stage of the BR-Radltour from Ebern to Neustadt an der Aisch, fracturing his knee and several ribs, as announced by a spokesperson from his ministry in Munich. Several media outlets had already reported on the accident from last Friday. Glauber had to be taken to a hospital.

"I want to thank the involved doctors, first responders, and caregivers for their excellent work. From the very beginning, I was in the best hands. Thanks to the top performance of the doctors, I'm already on the road to recovery," Glauber stated. Fortunately, he will be fully operational again soon. "I also want to thank everyone for the many encouraging messages I've received in the meantime."

Despite the serious fall, the BR-Radltour was still a great experience for Glauber this year. "I can already say: I will get back on my bike as soon as possible. I also want to participate in the tour again next year. I wish all the other fallen participants a speedy recovery."

This year's BR-Radltour covered nearly 600 kilometers through Bavaria. Prominent figures from politics and society, including Minister President Markus Söder and Parliament President Ilse Aigner (both CSU), cycled along on certain sections. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the BR, the route passed through all seven Bavarian administrative districts. According to BR, around 85,500 enthusiastic visitors celebrated at the stage towns, with 71,000 attending the open-air events featuring evening concerts.

Glauber's cycling incident occurred during the BR-Radltour, a tour organized by the same region, BR. Despite the unfortunate incident, he expressed his intention to return to cycling and participate in the BR-Radltour next year.
