- Enhancement of Hamburg's school infrastructure by one level of excellence.
The state of educational facilities in Hamburg has seen a significant upgrade over the past ten years. In 2013, the rating stood at 3.53, but by 2023, it had elevated to a rating of 2.47, as reported by the Senate Education Chief, Ksenija Bekeris (SPD). Hamburg houses around 3,000 such facilities, covering a total area of 2.75 million square meters. To keep these structures in top shape, approximately 1,000 refurbishment projects and 620 new construction initiatives have been executed. The SPD, after taking charge of the government in 2011, has channeled around five billion euros into school development. Another 2.6 billion euros is projected for investment by 2028.
The improvement in educational facilities' ratings can be attributed to the consistent investments made throughout the last decade. By 2030, with the projected additional funding, Hamburg's educational infrastructure may undergo another substantial transformation.
