- Enhanced limitations on Rhine Valley Railway during weekends
Rhine Valley Line Passengers Gotta Be More Patient Than Ever
Not only do travelers on this line need more patience than before, but they'll need a double dose of it this weekend. A system update and pre-installation for new signal boxes has forced Deutsche Bahn to shut down its route between Baden-Baden and Achern on Saturday and Sunday. Rather than riding the train, passengers will hop onto replacement buses which'll take almost an hour longer than usual due to the weekend closure.
Service Delays
Apparently, the work was supposed to be wrapped up by the first weekend of the shutdown, but it didn't pan out. The system update is crucial to ensure the line runs seamlessly after late August, as reported by the railway company.
Since August 9, the route has been under construction between Rastatt and Baden-Baden. During this three-week-long closure, the southern end of the Rastatt tunnel will be connected to the track network. The rail company also plans to fix switches, signal boxes, and signaling systems.
At the beginning of the shutdown in early August, commuters faced problematic situations with the rail alternative. The Red Cross, fire department, and Baden-Baden city had to help provide water for passengers experiencing lengthy waits at times.
Despite the anticipated completion by the first weekend of the shutdown, the system update and pre-installation for new signal boxes are still ongoing. As a result, travelers should expect disruptions during 'The weekend' as well, requiring the use of replacement buses.
