Upon the English football team's arrival for the European Championship, the Blankenhain golf resort underwent some unusual changes. As per Resort Director Daniel Stenzel, he revealed to the Thuringian General Newspaper, "For instance, the bar area is now utilized as the massage area upon the request of the English." He further added, "The security measures won't be any less for the English team; instead, they'll be beefed up."
This facility in Weimar Land was used by the German team from May 26th to 31st to prepare for the European Championship (June 14th to July 14th). Stenzel shared his fond association with the German team, stating that their close relationship is a personal highlight for him, as he recollected a conversation with DFB sports director Rudi Völler during camp. Stenzel shared, "Rudi requested to send his congratulations to my grandfather, who just turned 95, to the nursing home where he resides in Nienburg. So he sent a video message, and my grandfather has since become a star at the nursing home!"
The resort has been preparing for the English team's arrival, with the first group of support staff having arrived on June 7th. The players themselves are expected to arrive on June 10th. Already, items such as transparent coverings, stickers, and logos arrive from the English association.
