Statistics - Energy consumption in industry to fall by 5.3 percent in 2022
Energy consumption in Hessian industry fell by 5.3 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year. As announced by the State Statistical Office in Wiesbaden on Monday, the manufacturing industry required a total of around 119 petajoules of energy. According to the data, the savings rate was below the nationwide figure of minus 9.1 percent.
According to earlier figures from the Federal Statistical Office, the significant fall in energy consumption was mainly due to high energy prices. Energy-intensive industries had reduced their production in 2022. Prices had risen sharply following Russia's attack on Ukraine.
