The area encompassing Saxony, Poland, and the Czech Republic continues to draw in avid cyclists: Over 300 individuals from Saxony's eastern districts of Görlitz and Bautzen, along with adjacent regions from both neighboring nations, participated in the 21st edition of Görlitz's district's star bike ride. The event, themed "Crossing Borders in the Tri-State Area," led cyclists to the scenic Olbersdorfer See.

Cyclists departed from multiple starting points at the crack of dawn, embarking on various routes to reach the shared destination point. The festivities at Olbersdorfer See included an array of family-friendly entertainment options, such as music, dance performances, and artistic and circus acts. These diverse offerings sparked excitement among both the young and old, according to reports.

"The star bike ride in 2024 received a warm welcome following a year's absence and challenging climate conditions. The positive feedback we've received is gratifying. What truly stood out was the cross-border participation, which underscores the close ties between the regions," remarked Görlitz district administrator Stephan Meyer (CDU), who also participated in the event with his family.

Participants from other neighboring regions outside Saxony and its eastern districts contributed to the record-breaking turnout of the star bike ride. The success of the event highlighted the importance of cooperation and shared experiences between different regions, further enhancing the bonds between participating nations.
