Police in Bonn managed to clear a blocked entrance to the university's main building by pro-Palestinian demonstrators on Wednesday. The demonstrators were ordered to disperse and the protest was eventually dismantled. The identities of the protesters were recorded, authorities said. A police spokesperson noted that the entire operation was carried out peacefully.
Meanwhile, around 100 people gathered for another pro-Palestinian rally at the opposite end of the main building. Additionally, a separate demonstration in support of Israel was organized in a different part of the city, according to police.
Since May 7, a protest camp with tents has been set up in Bonn's Hofgarten as part of a pro-Palestinian activism, which was also cleared on Wednesday. As per the police spokesperson, the eviction process was without any major incidents. The student organization involved in this action had released a statement demanding among other things, the establishment of study spots for students from Gaza.
