- Employment Agency presents figures for July
The Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency will announce the July data for the labor market in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern today (10:00 AM). Given the continued weak economic situation, a decrease in unemployment is not expected, especially since the end of vocational training in the summer is likely to result in a temporary increase in youth unemployment. Despite the much-lamented shortage of skilled workers in many sectors, a smooth transition from apprenticeship to employment is not always guaranteed.
In June, the start of the tourist high season in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern led to a slight decrease in unemployment by 850 to 61,800. Particularly in well-known holiday regions, additional seasonal workers were hired. The unemployment rate was 7.5 percent, roughly at the level of June 2023. Nationwide, the rate was reported at 5.8 percent.
The announcement from the Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency will also cover the impact of seasonal employment on the labor market in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern during July. Although additional seasonal workers were hired during the tourist high season, the availability of skilled labor for permanent positions in various sectors remains a challenge.
