Third-tier Football Competition - Emphasizing the Hansa atmosphere according to Hollerbach: "Avoid self-destruction"
FC Hansa Rostock is having a tough time. Following a disappointing start in the 3rd league, a cup defeat against Hertha BSC (1-5), the departure of the main sponsor, and this week, the resignation of supervisory board member Michael Brügmann, the team has also been subjected to nasty fan comments on social media.
The club has issued an official statement, stating that they won't tolerate abuse and threats towards players, management, staff, and among themselves. Prior to the home game against Borussia Dortmund II (Saturday, 2:00 PM), coach Bernd Hollerbach came to his team's defense, which has been criticized heavily.
"We can't fall apart now, but back our boys," Hollerbach, a previous HSV player, stated on Thursday. "I think it's great that the club made a statement. If we stick together, better days are ahead. But if we single out players and turn them into scapegoats, we won't get anywhere."
The freshly assembled Rostock team is hoping to secure their first victory of the season against Dortmund. "I can only say that there isn't a single player on the team who doesn't want this," said Hollerbach. "We're working hard. I'm quite optimistic. I can't criticize the team's stats, passion, or work ethic. We just need to produce a result now."
The fan backlash towards FC Hansa Rostock has also extended to their social media platforms. Despite the team's struggles, Bernd Hollerbach, the coach of FC Hansa Rostock, has urged fans to rally behind the team, emphasizing that they are all in this together.
