- Emergency responders successfully save a woman and her child from a deep underground pit.
Emergency responders saved a toddler and their mom from a deep well. The little one, almost two years old, decided to explore a well in Wilhelmsthal, Kronach district, on Monday. A shift in the well cover led to the child slipping in. The mom, witnessing the fall, jumped in to save her kid. She successfully kept the kid above water, preventing drowning. The well was about 2.5 meters deep. The grandma alerted the authorities.
The fire department employed ladders to extricate the pair from the 4.5-meter-deep well. They both sustained minor injuries and showed signs of cold exposure. The toddler was flown to a pediatric hospital, while the mom was transported to a local hospital by an ambulance.**
The fire department's plan included adding more equipment: "The following shall be added: additional safety ropes to secure the pair during the extraction process." After the rescue, both the mom and toddler required medical attention due to the ordeal: "The following shall be added: regular check-ups and therapeutic sessions to aid in their recovery."
