Emergency responders have retrieved the corpse of an individual from the Lech river. According to a police representative, this person perished in the waterway. The deceased is believed to be a missing 49-year-old man. He apparently spent time on the water with his stand-up paddle board (SUP) on Friday. Authorities are presently managing the situation as a water sports-related accident under criminal investigation.
The man failed to return home on Friday night, causing his family to File a missing person report. Search operations were initiated to locate him. On Saturday, his paddle board was detected from a helicopter, yet the 49-year-old's whereabouts remained unknown.
By Tuesday, the body was located in the reservoir close to Schongau (Weilheim-Schongau district). A police representative clarified that the strong current likely swept the body further downstream.
The family's worry escalated as they waited for news about the missing man. Despite the effort put into the search, this tragic incident resulted in an accidental death.
