The local fire department saved a tipsy 21-year-old from a crane in Lübben, located in the Dahme-Spreewald district. On Sunday evening, the guy had scaled around 30 meters up the crane, but then got cold feet, as per police reports. He reached out for help, dialing his mobile phone.
Upon arrival, the fire department deployed a turntable ladder and safely brought the climber back down to earth. A breathalyzer test confirmed a reading of 1.12 per mil alcohol. Consequently, the 21-year-old was banned from the premises and charged with trespassing. It's also expected that he'll have to foot the bill for the rescue operation.
The fire department's quick response in this situation was due to their expertise in firefighting. after the successful rescue, they will likely have to include the cost of the rescue operation in their annual budget for firefighting and rescue operations.
