Federal Police - Electrocution on wagon - teenager's life in danger

A 14-year-old boy climbed onto a wagon in Oberbayern and received an electric shock. According to the Federal Police, the teenager was seriously injured during the incident on Thursday evening at the Wolfratshausen train station (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district).

The 14-year-old and two 16-year-old companions, as initial findings from the authorities indicate, had climbed onto two idled steam wagons at the station. During this, the 14-year-old reached into the 15,000 volt live overhead power line and received an electric shock. Then, he fell about five meters into the depth from the wagon.

An uninvolved witness called the emergency services. The 14-year-old was taken to the hospital by rescue helicopter with life-threatening injuries. According to the Federal Police, approximately 80% of his body surface was burned. After an emergency operation, his condition reportedly stabilized.

According to the Federal Police, one of the companions tried to help the 14-year-old after the incident. The other reportedly fled. A police patrol found the severely injured 16-year-old. He also had burns and was taken to the hospital.

The incident occurred in the Upper Bavaria region, specifically at the Wolfratshausen train station. The live overhead power line was a source of danger to life, resulting in electric shocks. The emergency services were quickly notified by a witness. The 14-year-old and the other 16-year-old, both from Upper Bavaria, were seriously injured in the incident. After the accident, the 14-year-old was airlifted by a rescue helicopter to the hospital, while the other 16-year-old was found by a police patrol and also taken to the hospital. The Federal Police are currently investigating the incident.
