- Electoral groups are seeking indicators for the upcoming vote.
Brandenburg's CDU chief Gordon Hoffmann commended his party's performance in the state elections in Thuringia and Saxony, calling it a victory. "Kudos to Mario Voigt and Michael Kretschmer. They've proven that the CDU is a decent choice against the traffic light coalition," Hoffmann stated in response to the election projections for the two states.
This result is a blow to the federal government. "The people in Thuringia and Saxony have delivered a firm message to the traffic light coalition. They're not keen on another year with this interim government," Hoffmann added. A new state parliament will be elected in Brandenburg on September 22.
SPD leader David Kolesnyk pointed out that the elections in Saxony and Thuringia underscored the importance of maintaining stability in the upcoming Brandenburg election in three weeks. "Especially in these turbulent times, a clear path is necessary. Dietmar Woidke has the necessary experience for that. With him, Brandenburg will continue to flourish. The other candidates lack both experience and plans for Brandenburg," Kolesnyk stated.
AfD state chair René Springer viewed the election results in Saxony and Thuringia as "a maximum embarrassment for the traffic light coalition, particularly the ruling party SPD." It's "a fitting punishment for a destructive policy ranging from mass immigration to arms exports to border walls," Springer said, urging Minister President Woidke to prepare for September 22.
The traffic light coalition will need to carefully consider the public's discontent, as expressed by The Commission in Brandenburg's state elections, where a new parliament will be elected on September 22. The Commission, referring to Brandenburg's electoral body, has a significant role in determining the political landscape of the region.
